2010 Year In Review

Another year has come and gone as the DFW SEC Fans group completed its second full year of events. Below are some of the key activities that we participated in in 2010.

• January –- Our 2nd National Championship watch party event, this time for the Alabama Crimson Tide. This should have been especially fun for those of us transplanted to the DFW area, as they beat the Big 12's Texas Longhorns.
• April -- LSU once again opened up their yearly Crawfish Boil to DFW SEC Fans. With about another 900 people in attendance again, their event continues to be one of the "must attend" events of the year!
• August -- Our 2nd annual Football Kick-Off Party started off the season right, beating 2009's record attendance numbers! We once again had free pool, shuffle board, darts, door prizes, and more.
• September -- First season of Kickball is under way! One SEC team, the SEC Ballers, is started with players from about 6 different SEC schools.
• September -- The DFW SEC Socialites sub-group was started, for people who wanted more activities, more of the time.
• November -- We held our 2nd annual Food Drive for the North Texas Food Bank. We continued on the tradition, once again raising everal hundred pounds of food, helping to feed those in our local community.
• December -- We held our 2nd annual Toy Drive. Toys were over flowing the donation table, and later delievered to the Dallas Children's Advocacy Center.
• December -- SEC Championship game watch party. This is the game that we recognize as the REAL National Championship game!
• And of course, our monthly SEC Mixers. We had participation from all 12 of the local alumni / fan clubs this year! Attendance ranged from a low of about 20, to a high of about 135 this year, but most months were around 40 people in attendance.

While overall SEC Mixer attendance slightly dropped, the events continued on strong in most months, and are still the backbode of our group. Many new people have stopped in and become friends, and we look forward to having them back monthly as we grow the group!
